Alcaraz on his next mission

The current number 1 in the world is appearing at the Grand Slam tournament in Wimbledon for the third time and is aiming for his first title. He already showed good performances last year but had to admit defeat to Jannik Sinner in an epic round of 16. For many, he is still the top favourite for the title this year, together with Djoker. The Frenchman Alexandre Müller should not be a stumbling block in the second round. The 26-year-old prevailed somewhat surprisingly against his compatriot Arthur Rinderknech in the first round. In addition, he has nothing to lose in the game against Alcaraz and can therefore play freely.

Alcaraz is the top favourite this year

Carlos Alcaraz has had an outstanding year in 2023 so far and is therefore fully deserved first place in the ATP world rankings. This is quite a bit of a surprise, considering he lost to Novak Djokovic in the semifinals of the French Open. Tournament victories in Buenos Aires, Indian Wells, Barcelona, Madrid and the Queen's Club still brought him first place. Above all, winning the preparatory tournament at the Queen's Club makes him a top favourite this year. In a total of 5 games against top players, he only lost one set. In the final he clearly prevailed against Alex de Minaur with 6:4 and 6:4.

This time at Wimbledon he was able to assert himself quite clearly in the first round. In the game against Jeremy Chardy from France, he won all 3 sets and thus prevailed smoothly. He is also the clear favourite in the second game against the second Frenchman. Another 3rd set victory cannot be ruled out, after all the Spaniard is in top form.

Although the Spaniard is only competing in Wimbledon for the third time this year, he is already one of the favourites for the second time. Last season he was classified as a secret favourite, but then failed in the round of 16 in an epic game against Jannik Sinner. The duel against the Italian ended somewhat unhappily for the Spaniard after a 5-set thriller. In the 2nd and 3rd rounds last year he was able to assert himself clearly in 3 sets, this will certainly be the big goal again this year. After all, he has only lost 2 games since mid-April. In the whole of 2023, he has a record of 40 wins and just 4 losses.
Müller has absolutely nothing to lose

The 26-year-old Frenchman is currently 84th in the ATP world rankings. This is one of his best rankings, having spent most of his career well outside the top 100. He has not been able to win an ATP title in his career so far. In recent months he has also been increasingly busy on the Challenger Tour. There he was extremely successful, after all, he won the title in Montechiarugolo and reached the semi-finals in Perugia. In the last Grand Slam tournament at the French Open, however, he clearly had to admit defeat to Jannik Sinner in the first round. It was therefore quite surprising that he was able to prevail in Wimbledon in the first round against his compatriot Arthur Rinderknech.

As briefly mentioned above, every game and every set he should win is an absolute bonus for Alexandre Müller. After all, the Frenchman is in the main draw at Wimbledon for the first time in his career. In the past two seasons, he did not get past the qualification and failed there either in the 1st round or at the latest in the 2nd round. In general, Müller didn't win his first Grand Slam game until 2021 at the Australia Open.

Carlos Alcaraz - Alexandre Muller: What to expect?

There is hardly a clearer starting position. World No. 1 meets world No. 84. While the Spaniard is one of the absolute top favourites for the title, the Frenchman is in the main draw for the first time. Tip 1 is not a recommendation due to the quota. We recommend a set bet of 3:0. This should work well as a tip in a combination bet.

  • Alcaraz to win
  • Alcaraz to win in straight sets (3-0)
