Survival derby

A total of five games are still to be played and both opponents are currently in one of the three relegation places. The game will be played at King Power Stadium, home of the Foxes. With 29 points, Leicester City are just one point clear of Everton, making this game the epitome of a "six point game" . It's hard to predict who will emerge victorious from this game, but the fact is that both teams need the points badly if they want to stay alive.

Last week, veteran striker Jamie Vardy came off the bench and appears to have scored an important goal for Leicester City, a goal that could potentially secure them a Premier League spot for next year after all.
The Foxes ran away against Leeds United on Tuesday and in the last few minutes managed to salvage a draw with their experienced striker as a substitute. The season is not over for Leeds either, they too have to fight for their place in the Premier League with just one point behind Leicester and Nottingham Forest who have the same number of points. Everton failed to impress in the last game and in the games before that and are currently stuck in a 6-game winless streak.

Leicester not improved after firing Brendan Rodgers

Leicester City have recently parted ways with longtime manager Brendan Rodgers. They hadn't won the last six games in a row and after the 2-1 loss they reacted. The 50-year-old took over in 2019 and has enjoyed a number of successes, including victories in the FA Cup and the Community Shield Super Cup.

He is leaving the club "as one of the most successful coaches in the club's history ," according to the official statement. Since then, numerous well-known candidates have been associated with the vacant coaching position, but recently it was not possible to reach an agreement with the preferred candidate Jesse Marsch. Now the Foxes have found a replacement: Dean Smith will lead the team at least until the end of the season, assisted by John Terry and Craig Shakespeare as assistants. The 52-year-old was previously at Norwich, having worked as a manager at Aston Villa, Brentford FC and Walsall. Smith is said to use his experience to help Leicester City in their relegation battle.

With the new coach in the luggage, things didn't go any better at first, and they were stuck in a relegation zone. They lost 1-2 against Aston Villa at home, a 0-1 against Bournemouth at home and a 3-1 loss against Man City away. So the highest emotion in the Foxes' last ten games has been a 1-1 draw with Brentford FC and relegation looming ever closer.

However, their redemption came with their next encounter: a 2-1 win against the Wolves. After being 1-0 down in the 13th minute, the midfielder showed through a penalty and Castagne shot the Foxes to victory. That was the end of their bad luck and they managed to get a draw in the next game.

Kelechi Iheanacho was injured while setting up Leicester's equalizer at Leeds on Tuesday and manager Smith believes he could be out for the rest of the season. This would allow Vardy to start after his important goal, with Patson Daka also an option. Defensive duo Jonny Evans and Ricardo Pereira are on the verge of making a comeback but this game could come too soon for either. Ryan Bertrand recently played for the club's Under-21 side and could be in the squad while Jannik Vestergaard and James Justin are absent.

Is there a chance for Everton?

Overall, Everton are slightly ahead in this duel, but it is almost equal. In the spring, the Foxes were definitely able to defeat the Toffees 2-0. Smith also has an excellent record against Everton, unbeaten in six Premier League matches as manager . In addition, Leicester's form is certainly better than Everton's, who only managed to win two away games. That doesn't make it any easier for the blues.

Everton are now on the verge of their first relegation in 72 years after a humiliating 4-1 home defeat by Newcastle United . The club are two points from saving bank but their next four games will be away, including a game against Manchester City at Goodison Park. Their disastrous away record, with just one win away this season and just two wins in their last 33 Premier League away games, makes it difficult to see where the points are expected to come from. Everton are in dire need of a turnaround in their away tally , with only Manchester City remaining at home.

Sean Dyche's side need a win to improve their chances of staying up in the Premier League. Last season Everton recorded a win at the King Power Stadium and another win over Leicester City would give Everton their third consecutive away win. With Leicester's obvious weakness in defence, Everton will find it difficult to take advantage as they remain the league's worst scorers with just 25 goals from 33 games . The consolation goal against Newcastle was also a fluke from a Dwight McNeil corner, as they too had to admit defeat after a toothless performance.

Everton will hope to have captain Seamus Coleman who has not played in the last three games with a hamstring injury. Mason Holgate and Ben Godfrey, who have both come on as substitutes in the meantime, found it difficult at right-back: the former was sent off against Crystal Palace and the latter was involved in more than one Newcastle goal on Thursday. Holgate is available again after being suspended from a game against Newcastle, but its use is rather unlikely. Should Coleman miss out, there could be a chance for Nathan Patterson, who has not started since the 4-1 defeat by Brighton in January. James Garner could return to midfield after his good performance against Crystal Palace last week and poor performance against Newcastle.

Leicester City - Everton: What to expect?

Since Everton are in poor form and don't have a great nose right now, we would bet on an over/under bet here, namely under 2.5 . With Leicester's weakness in defense, Everton could potentially concede a goal as well, so we will go for a X.
