Will Lazio reach the second place in Serie A?
Italian football fans are getting their money's worth these days. The third year in a row in the Italian football upper house is the weakest season for the team from La Spezia. In the last two seasons, the club has accumulated as many points after 29 matchdays. This year the team of head coach Leonardo Semplici only has 26 points.
This is only partially due to the 55-year-old Semplici, because he has only been responsible for the club since the end of February after Luca Gotti was fired. That lone win, however, came as a huge surprise and should have been a warning shot for Lazio Roma. This was the only league win in the last eleven games for the relegation candidates. The many points shared make the club a little on the spot and the relegation zone is getting closer and closer. Nine laps before the end of the season, Spezia is only four points ahead of Hellas Verona.
Despite the home advantage, the game against the Romans will be a very difficult task. The whole thing is made even more difficult by looking at the failure list. This is almost never-ending, because Spezia Calcio will definitely have to do without no fewer than seven players on Friday evening. Behind top talent Julius Beck and Emil Holm there is also a question mark over their operational capability due to illnesses.
All in all, the small upward trend under Semplici cannot be dismissed out of hand, after all, only one league game was lost.
