Sampdoria threatens Inter

The hosts have not had a good season in Serie A so far and are only in the penultimate place in the table. The team has developed into a survivor in the Italian Serie A in recent years. In the years 2020 and 2022 they reached 15th place in the league and thus narrowly secured relegation. This year they face an even more difficult task, because after 21 matchdays they are only 19th and therefore penultimate in the table. An even bigger problem is the large gap to the saving bank. Inter Milan was crowned Serie A champions in the 2020/21 season. Last year they only had to admit defeat to their city rivals and ended the season in 2nd place. Standing in 2nd place, they are also playing anything but a bad season, but the championship title will probably have to be hacked away after 21 matchdays. The gap to leaders SSC Napoli is simply too big and is already 13 points. The goal for the next few weeks seems clear, because the team wants to secure second place and thus the Champions League rank. A win against a relegation candidate like Sampdoria is therefore a must.

The Nerazzurri have had one clear weakness so far this season and that is their away performances. While they could win 9 out of 11 games at home, they only have 5 wins, one draw and 4 defeats away. In the away table, this is just enough for 6th place. The goal difference is probably even more worrying because it is negative. Sampdoria - Inter: What to expect? 

As expected, the direct duels in recent years speak more for Inter Milan. The two clubs have already met once this season, with Inter clearly winning 3-0 at home. It was the Nerazzurri's second 3-0 win in a row. However, Sampdoria managed to end the last home game with a 2:2 draw.
