Exciting second leg in Sevilla

The first leg in Manchester was a clear affair for the Red Devils for a long time, but in the end Sevilla still clinched a draw with a double strike. This promises some explosiveness in the second leg. Sevilla has more experience in the Europa League than almost any other club, but Manchester United are seen as favorites due to the quality of their squad.

FC Sevilla is playing a season far below their own expectations. Despite poor performances in the league, they manage to convince once again in the Europa League. They are the record winners there with 4 titles already and they showed this experience in the first leg against Manchester United. Although they were clearly inferior in this game, they got a draw in the end thanks to a double strike. They are now in a good position for the second leg.

They should show a better performance in front of their own fans. Manchester United remains the favorite. The English are playing a good first season under Erik ten Hag and are among the absolute top favorites for the title in the Europa League. But first they have to make it to the semi-finals

Seville is slowly regaining its former strength

It's a season to forget for Sevilla FC. 3rd time in a row they made it into the top 4 in the table, which always qualified for the UEFA Champions League. This season, on the other hand, they were even involved in a relegation battle. After a few changes of coach, things have been going a little better for a few weeks now. Under the new coach Jose Luis Mendilibar none of the previous 4 games has been lost.In the Spanish league, they are now at least in a good 13th place and thus in a secure middle field. But they probably no longer have a chance of an international starting place. This can only be achieved via the Europa League.
As a 4th time winner they have enough experience here to know how to eliminate any favorites. The foundation stone was already laid in the duel against Manchester United, but after the 2-2 draw, they now have to win at home.

Although Sevilla FC are now showing good performances in the Europa League, they did not play a good international season in autumn. After all, the club started in the Champions League, but only reached 3rd place in the group stage behind Manchester City and Borussia Dortmund. In the end, there was a negative balance of one win, 2 draws and 3 defeats. The goal difference was 6:12 goals. On average, they scored exactly 1.00 goals per game and conceded 2.00 goals.

After that, they made a better impression in the Europa League, especially in their own stadium. In the last sixteen they beat PSV Eindhoven 3-0 at home before having to settle for a 2-0 defeat away . The situation was similar in the round of 16 against Fenerbahce Istanbul. There, too, they won the home game 2-0. A 1-0 defeat was enough for promotion. Seville has won every home game so far this Europa League season. The 2-2 draw in Manchester almost seems like a little bonus for the Andalusians.

Under the new coach, players are suddenly used again who have only played a minor role in the past few weeks and months. Among others, Lucas Ocampos is an integral part of the starting line-up at the moment. Top striker Youssef En-Nesyri has regained his nose for goals and now has 7 goals in the league. Suso and defender Loic Bade were also successful on the last matchday against FC Valencia. The defense was once again able to keep the zero. We therefore assume that coach Jose Luis Mendilibar will not make too many changes. This is simply not the time for grand experimentation.

Manchester United have a great title chance

The first season under Erik ten Hag can certainly be considered a success, as the team seems to have achieved most of their goals for the season. In the league they are in a good 3rd place and will in all probability achieve a place in the Champions League. In the EFL Cup, they even secured their first title of the season in the final against Newcastle United. In the FA Cup they are already in the semi-finals against Brighton and in the Europa League they could reach the semi-finals with a win in Seville. They could call 3 titles at the end of the season.

However, the starting position in the Europa League is not easy, because after the 2-2 in the first leg they have to win in Spain. Due to the high quality of the squad, the Red Devils are also traded as favorites.

The Red Devils are playing a very strong Europa League season so far. In the group stage they had to be content with second place, but they had the same number of points as the group winners Real Sociedad. The English won 5 out of 6 group games and the goal difference was 10:3.The only defeat came at home against Real Sociedad (0-1). It was also the only game in this Europa League season where they couldn't score. Because of the 2nd place they had to face FC Barcelona in the round of sixteen.

After reaching 2-2 away, they narrowly won 2-1 at home. The round of 16 duel against Betis Sevilla was a little clearer. Here they even won the home game 4-1 and also won 0-1 away. With a total of 9 goals conceded in 11 Euro-League games, the main strength is the defensive. However, two important players are missing here. They also need at least one goal in Seville to make it into the semifinals.

They could then meet their city rivals Manchester United in the final, should both teams win in the semifinals. The Citizens have now been unbeaten in 14 games and the results are impressive. They mastered their last ten matches with an unbelievable ratio of 37:4. In general, Man City have only been beaten six times this season, recorded seven draws and won the remaining games in a total of 37 games.

ManU will travel to Seville with a lot of confidence, after all they are unbeaten in four games. They have won 3 of the last 4 games. In all 3 wins they remained without conceding a goal. But the form has been very good for a long time, because they have only lost one of the last 9 competitive games. This was the away game against Newcastle United on Matchday 29 of the Premier League. The team has not conceded a goal in 5 of these last 9 games. 6th time there were less than 2.5 goals in the game. 2 of the last 3 away games were won, but at the same time 2 of the last 4 were lost.

In contrast to the opponent, several important players are missing from the English team. This already begins in the central defense where the regular central defenders, Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane, are absent . On the last day of the game, the strong Marcel Sabitzer was injured while warming up. On the offensive they have to do without Marcus Rashford, probably the best player of the season.

Even young star Alejandro Garnacho cannot intervene in the action at the moment. However, the squad is wide enough to absorb such failures. With Christian Eriksen, an important player has recently become fit again. He will most likely form the headquarters with Casemiro. Antony and Bruno Fernandes are expected to score the goals.

Sevilla - Manchester United: What to expect?

Sevilla didn't have a good first leg but still managed to draw. ManU now have to win away from home. It won't be easy in Seville, especially as the hosts are unbeaten under the new coach. It is therefore quite possible that the game will be a draw again after 90 minutes . Sevilla will try to keep the zero as long as possible and act more defensively. In contrast to the first leg, we therefore believe in fewer than 2.5 goals this time. In the end, Manchester United made it through to the semi-finals.

  • Draw (risk)
  • Under 2.5 goals
