Djoker on course for his 24th Grand Slam title

Novak Djokovic is a tennis phenomenon. He has already won the most Grand Slam titles (23). Apparently the Serb is still not full. Is he trying to create a statistic for eternity? First he is again in the semi-finals of Wimbledon. At 36, he's not old at all. Here, however, he meets 21-year-old Jannik Sinner, who has to convince with his youthful power. But technique, accuracy and a bit of luck are also needed to survive against Djokovic. Sinner himself has never made it past the quarter-finals of a Grand Slam. As a result, he has already broken his own record. In the All England Club in London semifinals, he is an outsider. The first serve is scheduled for July 14. Let's look at a few facts first.

Time for young guns?

His shape and youthful freshness speak for Jannik Sinner. In fact, the Italian has won eight of his last ten matches. He was also able to draw attention to himself at Grand Slam tournaments. He made it into the quarterfinals in all four competitions. He achieved this feat at the Australian Open, Wimbledon and US Open in 2022. This shows his rising form. At the French Open, we look back on 2020. Overall, his career record is very good. He won 158 games and lost 69 times. In total, he was able to win seven titles on the ATP tour. Sinner is right-handed. He wields his backhand with both hands. However, before we allow ourselves a judgement, let's take a look at Jannik Sinner's last matches.

If you've made it to the semi-finals at Wimbledon, you've got five wins in a row. It's the same with Jannik Sinner, who eliminated Safiullin in the quarterfinals. He won here with 6:4, 3:6, 6:2 and 6:2. Before that, the Italian had to deal with the Colombian Galan. He also eliminated this opponent with 7: 6, 6: 4 and 6: 3. Another review shows victories over the French Halys (3:6, 6:2, 6:3 and 6:4) as well as against the Argentines Schwartzmann (7:5, 6:1 and 6:2) and Cerundolo (6:2 , 6:2 and 6:2). Yes, Jannik Sinner has always asserted himself relatively confidently. But the draw somehow was generous with him, since he hasn’t met a real strong opponent yet!

Djoker in form

Novak Djokovic is number one in the world. However, we also say this regularly about the Spaniard Alcaraz. In fact, the two players always take turns. If Djokovic goes ahead in the quarterfinals, he's number one. If Alcaraz follows suit, he takes over the lead again. Novak Djokovic has already won 23 Grand Slam titles. Most often he won the Australian Open (10), followed by Wimbledon (7). He was also successful several times at the French Open (3) and US Open (3). Overall, he can even look back on 94 career titles. His record is impressive. Because for 1,058 wins there are only 210 defeats. Despite his age, he doesn't seem tired. Because Novak Djokovic won the last 13 tennis games in a row.

The Djoker has already played five games at Wimbledon. He gave a total of two sets - one in each of the last two matches. Novak Djokovic recently beat Rublev 4: 6, 6: 1, 6: 4 and 6: 3. The Serb had previously beaten Hurkacz from Poland 7: 6, 7: 6, 5: 7 and 6: 4. Before that, the tournament seemed like a little walk. The old hand switched to the Swiss Wawrinka (6: 3, 6: 1 and 7: 6), the Australian Thompson (6: 3, 7: 6 and 7: 5) and the Argentine Cachin (6: 3, 6: 3 and 7:6) out. Before that he won 2-1 sets over Tiafoe in Hurlingham. Already at the French Open he won the final against Ruud with 7:6, 6:3 and 7:5. Djokovic is a phenomenon.

Sinner - Djokovic: What to expect?

Sinner is only 21 years old. That's why there were only a few duels with Djokovic. But in three matches, the tennis aces have already hit the balls around their ears. According to our forecast, the last duel also took place in Wimbledon. In 2022 Djokovic only won with 3: 2 sets (5: 7, 2: 6, 6: 3, 6: 2 and 6: 2). In 2021 there were two clashes. In Monte Carlo, the Serb won 6: 4 and 6: 2. In Australia, Djokovic won a one-set match 6-3. This statistic certainly speaks for the Serbs. But Sinner has proven that he can take sentences from Djokovic.

Because Djokovic already messed up the first set in the quarter-finals, we're counting on a win in the second set. In other words: Djokovic wins the second set. Still, we think Sinner is a worthy challenger. We see Novak Djokovic win, but we at least believe that the Italian will win the set. That's why we think the end result 1:3 is likely. But to be on the safe side, our tip is for Djokovic to win.

  • Djokovic to win 2nd set
  • Djokovic to win
  • Sinner to win at least one set
  • Djokovic to win in 4 sets
