Eagles in crisis?

The Eagles did not experience an easy few weeks before the international break and remained without a win for the 4th game day in a row. In the meantime, the connection to the Champions League places has been lost. A win against Bochum could bring us closer again. The guests finally got 2 wins in a row again, which also left them in the relegation places again.

The guests have shown strong performances again in recent weeks and have recently won two surprising wins against Cologne and Leipzig. With the 6 points they could leave the relegation places again and climb up to 14th place. After the international break, they want to take this momentum with them to Frankfurt. Although the eagles are clearly stronger, they are currently in a small form crisis. They have not won 4 games in a row in the Bundesliga. Although they are still in 6th place in the table, the gap to the Champions League places has increased to 6 points. Another defeat threatens to lose the international starting place.

Eintracht Frankfurt still strong at home

The successful coach has repeatedly criticized his team in recent weeks and has also targeted individual players. Despite the poor performance, the Austrian is set and is on the list at some top clubs. But before the summer, it's time to get on track for the first time. Frankfurt has not been able to win for 4 games and thus lost touch with the Champions League places. Standing in 6th place, this is already 6 points. The teams behind them are also getting closer and closer. The international break seemed to come at the right time for Frankfurt, because now they had some time to analyze the performances and draw their conclusions.

First and foremost, it is important to stabilize the defensive, which was so vulnerable recently. In the top half of the table, only Bayer 04 Leverkusen have conceded more goals than Eintracht. In the past 4 games, at least one goal has been conceded each time.In total, they conceded 7 goals during this period, which is of course too many for a top team. In their own stadium they seem to be a bit more stable, because in 12 home games only 14 goals were conceded and therefore just over 1.00 goals per game. In at least 5 home games they managed not to concede a goal. However, they failed to do so in their last home game against Stuttgart.

Frankfurt can also reflect on their home strength, even if they are only in 7th place in the home table. With 7 wins in 12 games, they have won more than half of their home games, losing only 3 times. The defeats were against Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and VfL Wolfsburg. The 0-1 defeat against the wolves was also the only home game where they couldn't score. They are currently unbeaten in 5 home games, the last defeat was against Dortmund on October 29, 2022. Since then they have won 4 of 5 home games, only having to settle for a draw against Stuttgart. The last 2 home games ended somewhat atypically with less than 2.5 goals. Previously, however, 5 home games in a row ended with more than 2.5 goals.

The last results weren't exactly flattering for Frankfurt, but we don't believe in big changes. Especially in attack, the coach doesn't have too many options on the bench due to Jesper Lindström's absence. With Faride Alidou and Paxten Aaronson, however, two young players could play a wild card role again. On the defensive, Evan Ndicka and Tuta are set despite recent modest performances. In attack, Randal Kolo Muani should take care of the goals. The Frenchman has already recorded 11 goals and 12 assists this season, making him the most dangerous player in the squad.

Bochum breathing again

The big relegation candidate this season has once again managed to get some air again. Before the international break, the club secured 2 wins in a row and climbed back to 14th place in the table. With 25 points now, they have an almost comfortable lead of 4 points on the relegation place. Coach Thomas Letsch managed to get out of the crisis, because before the two wins, 5 games were lost in a row. They even stayed 4 games in a row without scoring a goal. In the victories, however, the defense in particular presented itself very well again, because neither Leipzig nor Cologne conceded a goal.

Despite these good results before the international break, Bochum's defense is a concern. They are still the team with the most goals conceded. In 25 Bundesliga games they have already conceded 56 goals, which is significantly more than 2.00 per game. The situation is even worse when it comes to away games. Bochum had to get the ball out of their own net 35 times after 13 away games. Due to this defensive weakness, 11 of 13 away games were lost. At least 2 games could be won. In the away table, however, this is only enough for 16th place. Only Stuttgart and Hertha collected fewer points away from home than Bochum.

This year, however, things were not easy from the start, because in the group phase they only achieved second place behind Arsenal.Besides 3 wins, they ended 2 games in a draw and one ended in a loss. In those 6 games they scored just 10 goals. They also failed to score in the first leg against Chelsea.

Bochum has a striker in Philipp Hofmann who has scored seven times this season. Behind him, however, the air is getting thin, because Simon Zoller is already the 3rd best scorer in the team with 3 goals. In second place you will find a central defender in Erhan Masovic. He has already scored 4 goals this season and was also responsible for Bochum's last two goals. Together with Ivan Ordets he will also form the central defense in the game against Frankfurt. On the offensive, fast players like Christopher Antwi-Adjei and Takuma Asano will probably play again. Captain Anthony Losilla is set in central midfield.

The guests won the first duel of the season 3-0 at home. It was the 2nd home win in a row against Frankfurt. In the only away game so far since promotion, however, they had to admit defeat by a narrow 2-1. Frankfurt still seems to suit them at the moment. Bochum managed to score a goal against the Adler in each of the last 3 games. The last two games therefore ended with more than 2.5 goals.

Eintracht Frankfurt - Bochum: What to expect?

Eintracht Frankfurt have scored 13 goals in their last 10 games. In contrast, VfL Bochum scored 11 goals. If we disregard the goal difference of both teams, which averaged -7.0, the teams averaged 2.4 goals per game. Both teams scored in an average of 55% of games. The probability based on the last games suggests that this time both teams can score.

Frankfurt is clearly the stronger team in this duel, but Bochum is clearly in better form. In the home game we would still favor Frankfurt, also because Bochum could only win 2 away wins this year. We therefore believe in a victory for Eintracht Frankfurt. The club has had major problems defensively in recent weeks. Bochum could therefore score a goal with a bit of luck. A tip on "Both teams score YES" should therefore also be suitable.

  • Eintracht Frankfurt to win
  • Both Teams To Score
