Who will survive in this Premier League hate duel?

One of the deepest rivalries in English football is undoubtedly between Liverpool and Manchester United. On the one hand, it's about which of the two cities is really the economic and cultural center in the north of the island. On the other hand, the respective clubs also duel for sporting supremacy in the mother country of football. Manchester United are currently slightly ahead with 20 league titles won; the LFC has won 19 titles in the upper house.

With a view to the current Premier League standings, the Red Devils tend to have the momentum on their side. Coach Erik ten Hag's team has a ten-point lead over the Reds , who have taken ten points from their last four league games and even kept a clean sheet four times in a row.

In addition, the Klopp team is traditionally much more important in front of a home crowd than abroad, so the slightly lower odds on the Liverpool vs. Manchester United in favor of the home side from the Beatles city are not entirely unfounded.

But it is also clear that the guests from the industrial city also arrive with the recommendation of ten points from the last four Premier League matches, also eliminated FC Barcelona in the Europa League and, by the way, are the best team since the restart the World Cup break in the English Premier League.

With the bottom line being that there are too many contingencies that could affect the outcome of the match, we believe that between Liverpool and Manchester United there is too much risk involved in predicting in the three-way market. Instead, it is conceivable to rely on a relatively high number of goals , because both teams have great qualities, especially on the offensive.

Liverpool stats and current form

Much scorn and derision has been cast upon Liverpool Football Club in recent weeks. So-called experts have already started a swan song for Jürgen Klopp and have often argued that the player staff is simply no longer sufficient to play a good role in the Premier League and/or the Champions League.

While those critics felt confirmed after the embarrassing 5-2 in the round of 16 first leg at Anfield against Real Madrid, things are going according to plan in the league recently. Ten points from the last four games is a strong value. Especially against the background that keeper Alisson Becker has not conceded four times in a row and has even had five clean sheets in the past six PL matches.

This run of success shouldn't be overestimated, however, because with the exception of the 2-0 win at Newcastle United, the Reds almost exclusively had to deal with weak teams that ranked behind them in the standings. That will change next Sunday.

The hate duel against the Red Devils is imminent and with a view to the standings, the hosts between Liverpool and Manchester United should see the odds of a home win come true so that the Scousers can continue to cling to the last straw in the direction of the top four . With only six points behind Tottenham (4th) and a game still to be made up, the Klopp team has come back impressively in the race for the last Champions League ticket for 2023/24.

The fact that the LFC is not necessarily seen as an outsider in the 26th matchday in the Premier League, but is even slightly favored, is primarily due to the strong home record of eight wins, three draws and only one defeat in twelve home league games . In addition, the Reds have not lost any of their last six matches in their own stadium against ManUtd and have not lost out seven times in a row in this derby on Sundays.

It is also positive to mention that the Klopp team scored at least twice in four of the last five PL home matches and in total even put up the third best offensive in front of their home crowd. This yield is closely linked to Mo Salah, who can even call himself the Liverpool all-time scorer against the Red Devils with a total of ten goals. Looking back on the last five direct duels, the Egyptian scored nine of the ten goals mentioned.

Manchester United consistent under Ten Haag

Manchester United narrowly missed disappointment during the week. The English record champions were down 1-0 to West Ham United in front of their own fans up to the 77th minute of the FA Cup round of 16 on Wednesday evening, before an own goal from Aguerd and goals from Garnacho and Fred made the pendulum swing in the direction of the ten Hag -Let Eleven knock out. The strong final phase in the 3-1 win underscored once again the excellent shape the international club is in at the moment.

Similar to the LFC, the Red Devils also recorded ten points from the last four league games. In addition, against the big FC Barcelona, they made it into the Europa League round of 16 and the Red-White-Blacks were able to lift the Carabao Cup a week ago. There is definitely no lack of confidence. We would therefore be very cautious about making any prediction towards the hosts between Liverpool and Manchester United.

How impressive the former European Cup winner is is also evident from the sensational average of 2.32 points scored under the Dutch coach in 41 cross-competitive games. No other team has scored more points after the World Cup break than the Red Devils, who have also lost just one of their last eleven Premier League matches (2-3 against Arsenal) and are now unbeaten in eleven competitive games in a row.

Highlighting one part of the team would be unfair to the other. Nevertheless, it should be noted that the current third in the table has only failed to score in three of 41 (!) competitive games since the summer . At least one goal has always been achieved in the past 15 PL games. In nine of the last eleven matches at league level, there were always two or more own goals.

Given that statistic and the fact that nine of United's last 12 competitive games have gone above 2.5 goals, the odds of three or more goals in the game between Liverpool and Manchester United certainly seem interesting. If you want to play the isolated over bet, you can do this with the new betting provider Winamax, for example.

Not least because Marcus Rashford may have reached the zenith of his work at the moment . The international has scored ten goals in his last ten Premier League games, has scored five in the league and has netted six against LFC since the start of the 2017/18 season - albeit all at Old Trafford...

Liverpool - Manchester United: What to expect?

Liverpool v Manchester United is arguably one of the hottest, if not the hottest, derby in the English Premier League. The clubs, which together have won 39 championships, have already played 175 matches at league level. The Red Devils are ahead with 67 successes in a direct comparison. However, only 18 of these 67 successes came at Anfield.

Even in the recent past, the football temple in the Beatles' city was a red rag for United. Manchester has been waiting for a threesome at the LFC for six PL games (three draws, three bankruptcies). In total, the record champions only managed one goal in the last seven appearances at Anfield.

The ten Hag team won the first leg of the current season 2-1 and finally left the field as winners after eight league duels in a row without a win. Also interesting: In the last four meetings, at least three goals were scored in all competitions. In total there were even 23 goals, so almost five on average per match.

On Sunday afternoon at 5:30 p.m. it's that time again. The hate derby that is electrifying the masses on the island is imminent. Liverpool meets Manchester United. According to betting odds, coach Jürgen Klopp even gives the home side a slightly better chance of a threesome. A daring thesis when you consider that the guests have been unbeaten in eleven matches since January 22nd in all competitions.

This is one of the reasons why we deliberately refrain from betting on the winner. Both teams go into this duel in good Premier League form, have each taken ten points from the last four games and generally performed well offensively. Although the Reds' strength at home must be listed as a potential sticking point, the ten Hag team can be expected to do anything in their current condition.

We have therefore decided on a compromise and play the tip between Liverpool and Manchester United that both teams score and at least three goals are scored in the course of the game. In nine of the last twelve MUFC competitive games, the over 2.5 would have gone through, and the LFC also has the third best home offensive in the league, which has always scored twice in four of the five most recent PL games.

  • Both teams to score
  • Over 2.5
